Most dump and hoist applications use a single-acting telescopic cylinder: hydraulic pressure extends the stages to lift the load, and the load's own weight retracts it when you release pressure. Double-acting telescopic cylinders power the retract stroke too, which matters when gravity can't reliably bring the body down. If your application needs a powered push-pull in a fixed footprint rather than nested stages, a Double Acting Hydraulic Cylinders unit, a Welded Cylinders: Cross Tube build, a Welded Cylinders: Clevis Mount build, or a Tie Rod Cylinders design is usually the better match.
