Bucher/Monarch traces to 1856, when Joseph Jackoboice founded a precision machinery business in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The line moved to hydraulic pumps and valves in the 1940s and ran for decades as Monarch Hydraulics until Bucher Hydraulics acquired the company in December 2007. The Grand Rapids and Newaygo, Michigan operations build hydraulic power units (power packs), directional control valves, external and internal gear pumps, cylinders, and Dyna-Lift ergonomic height-adjustable systems for dump trailers, scissor lifts, snow plows, lift gates, and compactors.
