Size — Match the unit footprint and reservoir volume to your install space and duty cycle; a larger tank typically runs cooler under continuous load.
Material — Reservoir and frame construction (steel vs. polymer tank) affects corrosion resistance and weight; confirm the tank material suits the fluid and environment.
Rating / capacity — Set flow rate (GPM) by how fast the actuator must move and operating pressure (PSI) by the load; standard hydraulic circuits typically run up to 3,000 PSI, while high-pressure units run higher.
Application — Confirm motor type and voltage (12V DC, 24V DC, single- or three-phase AC, or gas) against your available power, plus the valve and port configuration the circuit requires.
OEM cross-reference — Where a unit replaces an obsolete model, match flow, pressure, voltage, mounting, and port size rather than the discontinued part number alone.

Which Power Unit Is Right for the Job?

Power units are specified by circuit, not by family, so confirming fit comes down to four numbers and a power source. Start with the actuator: a single-acting cylinder or simple up/down circuit can run a smaller, lower-flow unit, while a double-acting circuit or multiple actuators need higher flow and the matching valve bank. A power unit is the source, not the whole circuit. Plan for the components that run alongside it: a correctly sized hydraulic reservoir tank if you are building or upsizing tank capacity for cooler operation, plus the valves, filters, seals, and fittings to plumb and maintain the unit.
